Several weeks had passed since the body of Leonardo had been found. Sally was still staying in one of the rooms in the Main House. Even though she’d been given the OK to move back into the RV, she had chosen to delay the move.

To date, there were no new clues regarding Leonardo, and Sheriff Fisher was starting to get frustrated with the case. Even the camper was still missing and by now her friends had packed up and left.

Everything had gone back to normal. Friends were hiking together, hanging out in the evening, and a few new campers from the club had joined last minute. Nana wondered if it was time to start reading the club member’s mind to get a better idea of what they were thinking. Someone had to know something or think of something useful.

Just as she was contemplating reaching out to Raul, Rosa’s spirit guide, there was knock on the door. Moro’s ears perked up and he let her know the visitor was Bill. For a split-second Nana thought about ignoring him.

“Nana, it’s Bill. Are you here?”

Taking a deep breath, she told him the door was unlocked.

Walking inside he looked around and told her she shouldn’t leave the door unlocked.

“You have to be careful, a crazy person could come inside,” he said as he tried to be funny.

She ignored his futile attempt at being humorous.

“Bill, to what do I owe this visit?”

“I thought I’d come to see how you are doing since I know you’re the one who saw Leonardo’s body. It must have been a shock,” Bill said.

“Yes, it was a shock. The poor man. Do you know who could have wanted him dead?”

“No. I have no idea. Why are you asking me?” he replied in a defensive tone.

“I didn’t mean anything by it, it’s just since you’ve known him longer than me, I thought maybe you had some idea of who could have done this?”

Bill pulled back and uncrossed his arms. She had stuck a chord; of that she was certain.

“Well, I can see you’re doing alright. I’m off to meet up with some friends. See you later,” Bill said as he briefly stared at her before walking out of the caravan.

“Now, that was strange,” Nana said to Moro.

He’s strange.

“Por seguro! You hit the nail on the head.”

Sheriff Fisher felt exhausted. He was stuck and couldn’t come up with a plausible reason why someone would want to kill Leonardo. From everything he had learned, he was a likable person. Friendly to everyone and always willing to lend a helping hand.

There was the inheritance, but no one except Sally benefited from his death and even though he’d heard they quarreled often there was no indication he was going to cut her out of the will, or was planning on leaving her.

As Sheriff Fisher leaned back in his chair, he sighed, and then closed his eyes. He wondered if there was a connection between Leonardo and the missing camper. Although he had told Nana there was not, he wondered if he had answered in haste.
